We are excited to welcome you to Workshop 1 of the Phase 2 hackathon.
Working with the group you formed earlier and the scenario you selected in Hackathon 1, you'll now build and test an AI/ML model. You'll continue evaluating and improving the model in Workshop 2. At the end of the hackathon, you'll present your work to your peers and instructor.
The areas you'll work through
As you develop and refine your solution, you'll work through five connected areas:
- Model implementation
Translate your proposed solution into a working ML workflow using code, datasets, and baseline models.
- Model evaluation Generate predictions, apply evaluation metrics, and assess how effectively the model supports the business objective.
- Iteration and improvement Experiment with features and modelling approaches to improve performance and compare results.
- Model interpretation and limitations Analyse where the model performs well or struggles and connect outcomes back to business impact.
- Practical risk and communication Reflect on limitations, risks, and safeguards, then communicate your approach, findings, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

The workshops will move quickly! Keep an eye on the schedule and work with your team to set mini-deadlines. Remember, good time management will be crucial for delivering a cohesive presentation in the wrap up.
